When Apple has embraced Intel processors and, with them, the x86 architecture, many people started dreaming the possibility to also use Mac OS X on not-Apple PC.
Apple, has obviously tried to protect more their own operating system, allowing the installation only on Apple hardware, even if, as everyone know, nothing is 100% "inviolable".
We remember what happened during the past months, when the unknown company Psystar has proposed on the market a PC equipped with the Mac OS X operating system... We do not have any more news about that company.
That story instigated the resentment of the known Netkas, the author of the EFI emulator that allows Mac OS X working on not-Apple systems: the emulator would have been freely used by Psystar violating EFI license that forbid a commercial use of the software.
Now a new technology, denominated EFiX, promise to bring Apple's OS on common PC.
EFiX has introduced a new hardware solution that allow to install an original copy of Mac OS X on a "normal" PC without the application of any patch.
According to few informations, EFiX should be a simple USB key that must plugged-in before booting the computer.
On the net there is a demonstrative video, made by Netkas, which has positively welcomed the EFiX solution. Netkas, in fact, has publicized the video on the proper blog with enthusiasm, even if it's not know if he's also involved somehow in the project.
In the video it is possible to see how the system succeeds in booting procedure and allows the user to select setup language. Despite this, the installation process doesn't recognize the correct hardware and it doesn't continue. Netkas explains that this happen because that's a Macbook restore DVD which specifically search Apple hardware... So using a MacOS X DVD retail version the mechanism should work.
