Wireless Home Digital Interface (WHDI)

Sony, Samsung, Motorola, Hitachi and Sharp are working together on the WHDI: a new short range wireless MIMO transmission technology intended to replace cables between video sources and televisions and other displays. it will be the next generation standard for wireless connectivity like audio-video, controllers and multi-room... it will allow to transfer High Definition films without any cable! This standard is coming out soon, in the near 2009 and we will have only to check for the WHDI logo on LCD TV, projectors, CD/DVD, computers, consoles, amplifiers and so on!

It provides a high-quality, uncompressed wireless link which can support delivery of equivalent video data rates of up to 3Gbit/s (including uncompressed 1080p) in a 40 MHz channel in the 5 GHz unlicensed band, conforming to FCC regulations. Equivalent video data rates of up to 1.5Gbit/s (including uncompressed 1080i and 720p) can be delivered on a single 20 MHz channel in the 5 GHz unlicensed band, conforming to worldwide 5 GHz spectrum regulations. Range is beyond 100 feet (30 m), through walls, and latency is less than one millisecond.

I don't know what you think about, but I'm merely scared about the "Electromagnetic Pollution":

"Strong electromagnetic fields (EMFs) of about 50 to 60 cycles per second (hertz, or Hz) and the related electromagnetic radiation (EMR) are harmful to us. Long-term exposure may aggravate any existing health problems or diseases and may cause or intensify especially lack of energy or fatigue, irritability, aggression, hyperactivity, sleep disorders and emotional instability. Increasing numbers of individuals are becoming hypersensitive to EMR; many can feel the electricity going through the body and may experience disabling symptoms such as convulsions, memory problems and depression."

I wouldn't be happy to be affected by erectile dysfunction just because I don't wanna see a cable behind my TV...!!!
